Women robbed at gunpoint, trying to make a bank deposit.

HAVERSTRAW – Police officers and a tracking dog searched the Route 9W area Tuesday morning for two men accused of robbing a bag of cash at gunpoint from a woman looking to make a deposit at the Chase Bank.

One robber pointed a handgun at the victim before they forcibly grabbed the money sack and ran off into the woods behind Midas, police said.
The robbery occurred just before 8 a.m. at the bank at 250 Route 9W. The robbers were described as black men wearing black shorts and hoodies.
The woman planned to put the money into the bank's deposit slot when two men came upon her, Haverstraw Police Lt. Martin Lund said.
"One of the males points what she believes is a handgun, while the second grabs the money," Lund said. "They fled. No assault on the woman."
Lund said detectives spoke to the woman and looked for witnesses.
"We're looking for the suspects," he said. "That's our primary goal."
The Clarkstown tracking dog led officers to behind the bank, where the scent weakened, police said. A McDonald's bag found at the scene is part of the evidence.
Police were still getting the details concerning the amount stolen. The Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation forensic detectives was to assist.
Anyone with information can call the Haverstraw Police Department at 845-354-1500.
